Tiberiu Graur, who was, is and will remain an important personality for scientific and cultural life of Romania and beyond, has left us last week.
Philologist, librarian, researcher anthropologist, professor and not least the General Director of the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca, for over two decades, Tiberiu Graur is the author of numerous studies and ethnological research analysis and synthesis works, anthropological systems theory and communication theory – the semiotics.
As an ethnologist researcher he participated in campaigns in over 800 cities in the country completed by exceptional results. As Commissioner have organized major exhibitions in USA, France, Italy and Hungary.
Expert of the Council of Europe, member National Commission for Museums and Collections, member of the Romanian Association of Open Air Museums and the European Association of Open Air Museums, Tiberiu Graur campaigned ceaselessly for the preservation and promotion of national cultural heritage.
As a former employee of specialized publications and newspapers he contributed to the discovery and exploitation of rural thesaurus of Romanian culture and civilization.
Village Museum team in Bucharest is together with the colleagues in Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania and the grieving family, regretting the premature disappearance of the good colleague and friend, the man who was Tiberiu Graur.
