Tatar household, c. XX-th, Independenta, Constanţa county - under development

Independence commune, located in the south of Constanta county, just 12 km from the border with Bulgaria, is composed of the villages Independence, Fântâna Mare, Movila Verde, Olteni and Tufani. The Turks and the Tatars represent the predominant minorities in this locality, the village of Fântâna Mare being currently inhabited by families of Muslim confession. The type of settlement is the one specific to the Dobrogea villages, with sinuous, irregular roads and households based on the access roads.
In the museum there is a reply of a household of Tatars, composed of several constructions: the house and annex, positioned face to face, and the oven sheltered by a shed on the long sides of the courtyard with a stone fence. Access to the yard is made by a relatively narrow gate.
The "Chirpiciul" constituted the specific material and technique for the constructions in this area, as can be seen at the household in the museum. The frame of the house is made "in two waters", preserving the old type of corners of the Olaans.
From a planimetric point of view, the house is composed of three rooms, tent and open pillars with six pillars of resin wood. Access to two of the rooms is made through the tent position between them, and in the third, directly from the porch. The floor is executed from the ground, and the rooms are heated with the help of stoves ("blind" stove and hob stove). The natural lighting is provided in rooms by a window, reduced in size, and the tent has two small windows that frame the access door.
The house annex is composed of two joined bodies (summer kitchen and bird elbow), provided with roofs in two "waters" with the same slope, but with different heights.
