Archaic and contemporary
The National Museum of the Village Dimitrie Gusti has the pleasure of inviting you to the painting and drawing exhibition of the plastic artist Dumitru Macovei, entitled suggestively archaic and contemporary.
The painting of Dumitru Macovei is in a confluence space between tradition and modernity, between symbol and expression, between sacredness and matter. He is an artist of the essentialized forms, of the deep messages encoded in a rigorous visual language and at the same time loaded with emotion.
Its originality does not stand in the ornament, but in depth. Macovei does not propose mere representations, but a plastic meditation on identity, memory and sacred. In a world of fragmentation, he offers a coherent art with deep roots.
This exhibition, curated by Silvian Siferlea, is more than a selection of works, is an invitation to reflection, a journey into a spiritual territory in which the viewer is called to contemplate, to recognize, to reinterpret. Dumitru Macovei does not just paint pictures, he builds a universe.
The opening will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, 4 pm. It presents the critic and art historian, Pavel Șușar.
The exhibition will be opened between September 18 and October 18, 2025 and can be visited from Wednesday until Sunday between 10.00 and 18.00, in the HH Stahl and Foaier Hall.
