The "Crafts and heritage" debate. Tourism and sustainability"

The Department for Interethnic Relations - the Government of Romania and the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village invite you on November 20, 2025, from 10.00 a.m., to the debate entitled"Crafts and heritage. Tourism and sustainability",which will take place in the "Victor Ion Popa" Hall within the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village (Pavel D. Kiseleff Road, no. 28-30, Bucharest).

 the initiative is part of the projectPA3_CLOSE-Recovery throughcrops, tourism and people-to-people contacts in the Danube Region etci aims to support and demonstrate how tourism and culture can be vectors of local development and can contribute to the social and territorial cohesion of regions.

The debate aims to bring together voices from the fields of culture, tourism and the creative economy to explore how living traditions can become resources for the future. Topics aimed at stimulating reflection on the value of traditions in the contemporary context and on the balance between conservation, innovation and sustainable development will be addressed:

-"Traditional crafts must be passed down exactly as they were practiced" vs. It takes innovation to stay relevant"

-,,Cultural tourism supports crafts" vs. "Tourism turns them into a commercial commodity"

-"Crafts can become an economic engine for communities" vs. "I can't compete with modern industry"

– "The language of craftsmen is universal" vs. "Each community has an unrepeatable specificity"
