The events of December 1989, which led to the fall of the communist regime in Romania
represents a crucial moment in our country's recent history. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of
at the Romanian Revolution, the Museum of the Horrors of Communism in Romania in collaboration with the Museum
National of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village and together with the Semn Association, organizes the exhibition of
contemporary art Epilog'89.
This wants to be a tribute to those who suffered during the communist regime and to
place in the foreground both the dramatic events of the Romanian Revolution and the lives that were lost
the brutality of the repressive system. Thus, with the aim of keeping alive the memory of the victims
the regime and the prominent personalities who perished in the regime's prisons, the exhibition brings together
the works of ten artists: Andrei Balan, Teodor Zaica, Mircea Hristescu, Silvia Radu, Maier Catalin,
Maria Ionescu, Florin Constantin, Cezar Stanciu, Irina Hasnaș Hubbard and Ion Ciobanu.
The works brought to the public are not only intended to be a commemoration, but also a reflection on
the devastating long-term impact of the communist regime on Romanian society.
At the same time, we want art to have the role of: raising awareness of the public through dissemination
the traumatic past of Romania, to amend the dictatorial doctrines and instruments, by
cultivating collective memory and practicing democratic practices.
We are waiting for you, therefore, in the premises of the School of Bridges and the Canton of Road at the National Museum of
The "Dimitrie Gusti" village, where you will discover 70 works of contemporary art from different media
diverse, such as: painting, sculpture, drawing and textile art!
