Orientation by the stars. In search of the lost road

The National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village invites you to the exhibition of navigation instruments,Orientation by the stars. In search of the lost road. The exhibition includes over a hundred objects used in navigation at sea, as well as maps with the sky vault to identify the 57 stars used in astronomical navigation. Elements of a ship's equipment are also presented: rudders, hatches, navigation lights, lifebuoys and many other tools.

The exhibition is a plea for the continued use of the sextant and astronomical navigation: with the appearance of a protractor and the utility of a computer a sextant and the knowledge necessary to use it ensure the determination of position in the universe. The project is aimed at pupils and students, but also visitors of any age who are passionate about the sky and the sea.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, starting at 2:00 p.m. in Sala Gheorghe Focșa (Sos. Kiseleff no. 28) and can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., until on October 15, 2023.
