Radu Florescu – Life and work
The National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village invites you to the Radu Florescu - Life and Opera exhibition.
Radu Florescu (1931-2003) is an important reference for contemporary Romanian culture. Archaeologist, art historian, teacher and museologist of wide scope, he promoted throughout his career of over five decades, ideas and referential works for the modernization of archaeological research, museography and forms of valorization of the national cultural heritage.
Visionary and at the same time modern in his concepts, connected to the performing museographic movement, Radu Florescu occupied important positions in the hierarchy of specialized institutions, including that of president-founder of the National Commission of Museums and Collections, president of the ICOM National Committee and General Director of the Museum National History of Romania. In these situations, he stood out abundantly for his vast and solid specialized knowledge and exceptional culture, as well as for his energy and special passion.
Professor of great reputation, opener of horizons, author of books, studies, textbooks, courses and albums, his scientific merits are widely recognized, and the paths opened by him, in museography, conservation and restoration, configured a true national school.
The exhibition can be visited starting from September 7, 2023, from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., in Sala Foaier HH Stahl, Şos. Kiseleff no. 30.
