Saint Dumitru fair
Between 22 and 27 October 2021, at the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village, the "Târgul de Sfântul Dumitru" will take place, a traditional event and a registered trademark at OSIM, which aims to recreate the atmosphere of the old fairs that took place around major religious holidays – Saint Demetrius the Great Martyr, the Fountain of Myrrh and Saint Demetrius the New, the protector of Bucharest.
Throughout the six days, visitors will have the opportunity to bargain, take part in music and dance performances, book launches, creative workshops and craft demonstrations, made by popular creators who come to the museum from all over the country.
On October 22, starting at 1:00 p.m., those who wish will be able to discover the beauty of folk crafts in creative workshops: dyeing, weaving and folk ornaments. Also, on October 23, starting at 14:00, you will be able to learn the secrets of glass icons, woodworking, beekeeping and pickle preparation. Registration for the workshops takes place at the email addressprograme.culturale@muzeul-satului.roand upon payment of a registration fee. Due to the current epidemiological situation, a maximum of 8 participants will be allowed to register for a workshop.
On October 26, when the Holy Great Martyr Dimitrie, the Fountain of Myrrh, who is also the spiritual protector of the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village, is celebrated, the Holy Liturgy will be held at the Turea Church in Satul Nou. The service will be followed by a concert performed by the "Symbol" Children's and Youth Choir of the Romanian Patriarchate. Also on this day, the opening of the "Eclectica" exhibition will take place, organized together with the ASESTEMUR Association from Murcia, Spain. The exhibition is part of the "Space and Time Journey from the Western Levant to the Balkan" project.
Access to the fair is done by purchasing the entrance ticket and observing all the rules for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,including the obligation to wear a protective mask throughout the visit (inside and outside), according to HG no. 1090/2021 regarding the measures to prevent contamination with the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and to ensure that activities are carried out in sanitary safety conditions.
