The Honey Fair at the Village Museum
The National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village invites you on Sunday, May 19, to the Honey Fair, an event dedicated to the celebration of International Bee Day, marked every year on May 20.
On the alleys of Satul Nou you will be greeted with various beekeeping products made available for tasting by beekeepers from all over the country. Among them will be Ioan-Cosmin Herța from Galeș village, Săliște locality, Sibiu county, the one whose honey reached the table of the Sovereign Pontiff and has the Gold Medal for organic honey. In the courtyard of the Cut household in the museum, at the Beekeeper's House, from 12:00, the actor Nae Alexandru together with the folk music performer Narcisa Băleanu will stage the Story of the Cut House and will share with you some of the beekeepers' traditions.
Children are welcome, young and old, between 13:00 and 16:00 at workshops and drawing contests on the asphalt, both activities inspired by the life of industrious bees.
The World Bee Day was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 2017, at the proposal of the Beekeepers Association of the Republic of Slovenia to highlight the importance of bees for humanity and to draw attention to the need to protect them, as well as other pollinators . The chosen date represents the birthday of Anton Janša (May 20, 1734 – September 13, 1773), considered a pioneer and an important expert of modern beekeeping.
We are waiting for you on a sweet Sunday, in the museum-village at Sosea!
