The bread fair
We invite you during July 23-24, 2022 to the "Wheat Harvest Bread Fair". It is an event that will bring us together around a slice of bread. "There are people in the world who are so hungry that there is no other form in which they can find God than in a slice of bread," said Mahatma Ghandi.
"Bread, a defining element in human civilization. Just as a rice civilization was born, so we have a wheat civilization in which bread plays the central role. Cereals and bread have shaped people's lives for thousands of years, as the indispensable basis of human existence, culture and civilization. We all know that beyond its use as a staple food in the history of peoples, bread is attributed divine valences, in the Jewish and Christian faith, being associated with Life itself. "Our bread for existence" is part of the Our Father prayer, spoken with hope by millions of people who share the same faith", declared the university professor. Dr. Paula Popoiu, manager of the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village.
We will learn together the traditions of the peoples regarding the cultivation of wheat and the making of bread from representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania, from representatives of national minorities' unions, bakers, artisans.
There will be music, dancing and good will.
