National Day of Traditional Port from Romania
The National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village invites you on Sunday, May 8, to celebrate together one of the most important elements of the national identity: the traditional port, which represents one of the most important forms of culture of a people. The folk costume was the secret of the woman's soul, the one that over time created real masterpieces in the light of the opais, in the long winters.
"The woman is the fifth season, in which nature rests, remembering all the flowers of spring, all the nightingales of summer, all the grapes of autumn and all the snows of winter." It is the definition given to the woman by one of the greatest Romanian poets: Grigore Vieru.
While working, the women said an Orthodox prayer for communication with the divinity: "Your chamber, Savior, I see it decorated. And I don't have clothes to go into it. Illuminate my coat - the secret of my soul! And save me, my Savior".
We therefore invite you to enjoy together the beauty of the folk costume worn by the dancers of the EnsembleDoiniţaof the House of Culture of the Students in Bucharest, let's learn to sew together with skilled craftsmen or listen to the stories of the country's most famous opincar. There will be competitions and, obviously, artisans from whom you will be able to purchase port elements. Those who will cross our threshold in folk costume or with at least two pieces that make up the costume - shirt, belt, ie, necklace, tulpan, vâlnic, poale, opinci, will have free entry.
You're welcome!
