Universal Ia Day 2024 celebrated in the Eternal City
The Universal Day of Ia will be celebrated this year, in Rome, through a series of events organized byEmbassy of Romania in the Italian Republic, Together withChairmanship of the Culture Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, The National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village in Bucharest, The Museum of Civilizations in Rome and Academy of Romania in Rome.
Thus, to celebrate this important holiday dedicated to Romanian folk traditions registered in the UNESCO intangible heritage, the Museum of Civilizations in Rome (Piazza Guglielmo Marconi 8) will host, for a month, the exhibition "ROMANIA-ITALY: The art of embroidery and ceramics, the heritage of humanity” (June 18 – July 14), as well as a scientific conference and weaving workshops dedicated to children.

The exhibition "ROMANIA-ITALY: The art of embroidery and ceramics, the heritage of humanity” presents a selection of traditional costumes and ceramic objects from the collections of the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village in Bucharest, from different regions of Romania (Banat, Bucovina, Maramureș, Muntenia, Moldova, Oltenia and Transylvania) and traditional costumes and ceramic objects from the heritage of the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, from different regions of Italy (Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Lazio, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Piemonte, Sardegna, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto), in a dialogue of popular traditions from the two countries.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition, Romfilatelia will launch the philatelic product dedicated to Romanian and Italian pottery and ceramics, symbols of humanity's heritage. An exhibition of postage stamps highlighting Romanian traditions and customs will also be presented.

Colloquium "ROMANIA-ITALY: The art of embroidery and ceramics, the heritage of humanity” dedicated to the Romanian-Italian dialogue regarding the restoration, conservation and promotion of traditional costumes and ceramics from the two countries. The following will participate in the colloquium:Federico Mollicone, the president of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, Dr.Andrea Villani, director of the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, Conf. univ. Dr.Paulina Popoiu, general director of the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village in Bucharest,Leandro Ventura, director of the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage in Rome, Dr.Francesco Aquilanti, the coordinator of the Italian ethnography collections within the Museum of Civilizations in Rome, Dr.Georgiana Onoiu, Head of Cultural Heritage Hoarding, Scientific Records and Databases section of the "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum and Dr.Michael Stan, in charge of cultural projects within the Romanian Embassy in Italy.

The Museum of Civilizations in Rome and the National Museum of the "Dimitrie Gusti" Village in Bucharest propose, within the framework of the exhibition "ROMANIA-ITALY: The Art of Embroidery and Ceramics, the Heritage of Humanity", a series of embroidery workshops for children, entitledric-AMIAMO (together), workshops aimed at introducing young people to the art of embroidery from the two countries.
All events are organized in partnership with Romfilatelia, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the European Library in Rome, under the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and the City Hall of Rome.
